How this calculator works
Three different numbers exist. Do not mix them: a modelled planning range, a confirmed working price, and what you actually pay after the move. This page estimates the first two.

Used to compute driving miles in the live calculator (OSRM) and to classify local vs long-distance.
Distance
Local model at or under 100 miles (hourly). Longer routes use weight × miles line haul.
Home size / inventory
Studio–4+ maps to planning cubic feet until a scan or item list replaces it.
Volume & weight
Weight ≈ cubic feet × 7 lb/cu.ft. when only volume is known.
Access
Stairs, elevator, long carry, and tight access exist in the estimate model. The public calculator currently applies packing, scan/catalog volume, and specialty/piano from detected items. Stairs and long-carry are confirmed with a coordinator — they are not a silent public-form input.

Peak season, weekends, and month-end can raise the range in the live calculator.
Planning volume by home size

Methodology
Distance means road / driving miles. Corridor pages use a cached representative driving distance between city centers. The live calculator recomputes driving miles for the exact addresses you enter. Those two will be close, not identical. Straight-line (great-circle) miles are not the moving distance.
- Planning range. What the model shows from size, miles, and options you entered. Not a binding quote.
- Confirmed price. One working number after inventory/access review. Discounts apply only to this number.
- Paid / remaining. What has been collected vs what is still due. A 30% deposit is only of the discounted confirmed price, and only inside the lock triangle.

Local: hourly package from planning cubic feet. Long-distance: cubic feet × 7 lb/cu.ft. → line haul $/lb by mile band + origin/destination service + fuel. Access, packing, specialty, and date can change the confirmed number.

How accurate is the estimate?
The first number is a planning range, not a binding quote. A coordinator confirms one working price after inventory and access. Paid amounts are tracked separately from that confirmed number.
